Lomar is looking to strengthen its dynamic team by recruiting a highly motivated IT Support Engineer to join our IT Department.

Job description

The IT Support Engineer will join our IT Department, focusing on innovation, cyber security and business continuity. They will be responsible for supporting, maintaining and upgrading the infrastructure of Lomar Shipping offices and vessels, reporting directly to the Head of IT.

The successful candidate will provide on-site and remote IT support. This position offers opportunities to enhance  IT knowledge and communication skills in a multicultural environment. The ideal candidate will be ambitious, self-motivated, a quick learner with a can-do attitude and a genuine interest in all aspects of IT Support.

The role has the following responsibilities:

  • Providing (on-site and remote) support to company’s and vessels’ systems and employees.
  • Resolving IT related operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Installing, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting physical/virtual machines, laptops, printers, mobiles, tablets (hardware and operating systems).
  • Installing, testing, maintaining, and providing support for software applications.
  • Monitoring performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Ensuring IT policies and Cyber Security procedures are applied and maintain them.
  • Escalating higher level IT operational issues / risks.
  • Maintaining the IT documentation, ensuring the content is updated.
  • Liaising with vendors, service providers and other IT personnel for problem resolution and projects progression.

Required Skills

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of relevant vessel support experience required.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software troubleshooting, and diagnostics skills.
  • Knowledge of on-site and cloud environments.
  • Knowledge of ships automation systems will be a plus.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work prolonged hours and travel as necessary.
