Lomar has announced the appointment of Peter Mellis as Senior Advisor - Corporate Development, with responsibility for helping to advance Lomar’s investment strategy and business development.

Bringing over 20 years of experience in the United States in banking and private equity-backed businesses, Peter was recently Group Commercial Director of V.Group, where he led Business Development in the Americas region and also headed global relationships with banks and financial sponsors. He was previously a Director at RBC Capital Markets, leading advisory and capital markets transactions in the maritime, transportation and logistics sector. Peter formerly worked within Citigroup’s investment banking team, having started his career at J.P. Morgan on the Global Markets Investment Strategy Team.

Commenting on the appointment, Nicholas Georgiou, Lomar Chief Executive Officer, said: “Our maritime industry is undergoing significant change and we want Lomar and lomarlabs to be at the vanguard of future innovation and development. Peter Mellis brings in a wealth of experience and an extensive network to help us grow through new investments and business development.”

Peter graduated with a BA (Hons) in Business Economics from Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island, where he was presented with the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa award that recognises outstanding intellectual distinction among undergraduates. He received his MBA in Finance from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was also selected for UPENN’s Outstanding Student Honour Society.
